How We Use Your Information

Local Data Processing

All app scanning and analysis happens entirely on your computer:

• App scanning: AppSweep reads app bundles in your Applications folder to detect installed apps and their versions.
• Data storage: Your app inventory is stored locally using macOS's built-in data storage systems.
• Security-scoped bookmarks: We use Apple's sandboxed security model, meaning we can only access folders you explicitly grant permission to.

Third-Party Services

AppSweep interacts with third-party services solely for update checking:

Update Sources

• Sparkle Feeds: Many apps provide their own update feeds. We query these feeds directly.
• GitHub API: For apps hosted on GitHub, we check the releases API for new versions.
• App Store: App Store update information is retrieved through Apple's systems.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures:

• Sandboxed Application: AppSweep runs in Apple's App Sandbox, limiting access to system resources.
