1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Focusledger ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Focusledger ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

Focusledger is a macOS productivity tracking application that:

  • Monitors which applications you use and for how long
  • Tracks window titles to categorize your activities
  • Provides insights and analytics about your productivity
  • Offers focus session timers and journaling features
  • Uses on-device AI for personalized recommendations

3. System Requirements

To use Focusledger, you must have:

  • A Mac computer running macOS 26.0 or later
  • Apple Silicon processor (M1 or later)
  • An active Apple ID for App Store purchases
  • Apple Intelligence enabled for AI features

4. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Download and install the App on devices you own or control
  • Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
  • Access the features provided by the App

You may NOT: Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App; reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code; use the App for any illegal purpose; circumvent license controls.

5. App Store Purchase

Focusledger is sold as a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store. There are no subscriptions.

Purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

5.1 Refunds

Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple through their Report a Problem portal. We do not process refunds directly.

6. Privacy & Data

Your use of Focusledger is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:

  • All productivity data is stored locally on your device
  • We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on our servers
  • AI features use Apple Intelligence (on-device processing)
  • You can export or delete your data at any time

7. Permissions & Security

Focusledger requires certain macOS permissions to function:

  • Accessibility: Required to detect the active app and window titles
  • Screen Recording: Optional, only for the screenshot feature
  • Input Monitoring: Optional, for keyboard/mouse activity levels
  • Notifications: Optional, for focus session alerts

You can revoke these permissions at any time in System Settings, though this may limit app functionality.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, and content, is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

The Focusledger name, logo, and associated marks are trademarks of Focusledger. You may not use these marks without our prior written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

We make no representations about the accuracy of productivity metrics, AI insights, or recommendations. Use your own judgment when making decisions based on app data.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
  • Any damages exceeding the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Focusledger and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

12. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

For significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your license to use the App ends immediately
  • You must delete all copies of the App
  • Local data on your device remains yours
  • Active subscriptions will not be automatically refunded

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Berlin, Germany.

15. Apple's Terms

Your use of the App is also subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. In case of conflict, Apple's terms prevail for matters related to the App Store, payments, and subscriptions.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
